Specter is a boutique Artist Management agency based in London, representing emerging artists in the music industry. The identity needed to be understated, yet carry a sense of weight and permanence. It would also have to avoid appearing either dated or overtly trendy, whilst not overshadowing the presence of the artists it would represent.
With this in mind a bespoke typeface was developed combining the classic American Golden Age letterforms of Morris Fuller-Benton’s Bank Gothic with a more flowing, contemporary, sensibility. The unexpected rounding of the corners and softening of the curves is a nod to the letterforms of the wonderful Richard McGuire, with whom I had collaborated with earlier in the year on the Making Time 10th anniversay Liquid Liquid poster.
Headed paper and Business cards were screen-printed in gloss black on ivory Plike – adding a smooth tactile presence to an aesthetic that, with a ‘period’ material treatment, have moved toward pastiche. A simple web presence conveying the essential information completes the identity.
